Mer’s career spans over two decades at the forefront of college access and success, college affordability, workforce development, and nonprofit management. Whether implementing operations, activating authentic leaders, cultivating dynamic teams, or institutionalizing flexible processes and procedures, Mer’s personal and professional mission is to empower everyone to become a leader and she has repeatedly proven her leadership skills.​

Mer is a Steering Committee member of the Bay Area K-16 Collaborative, a formerly appointed Member of the CA Cradle to Career Data System Community Engagement Advisory Board, and she was appointed by Santa Clara County Board Supervisor Cindy Chavez to the Commission on the Status of Women from 2019-2022 and served as Chair from September 2020-December 2021.

  • I live in the East Side community and graduated from the district.

  • I was inducted as a Hall of Famer in November 2023.

  • I am a product of California’s three public higher education systems:

    • California Community Colleges: Evergreen Valley College, De Anza College, LA Harbor College, & El Camino College for dual enrollment and additional coursework

    • California State University: Cal State Long Beach for my Master of Business Administration

    • University of California: UC Los Angeles for my Bachelor of Arts in English

Meredith "Mer" Curry Nuñez, a dedicated member of the East Side community of the City of San José, Santa Clara County's 2nd District, and California's 18th Congressional District, has resided in East San José for over 2 decades. In 2026, she will run for the East Side Union High School District School Board, marking the beginning of her career in elected public service.
